The encounter between Police FC and Vipers this Friday, 19th February 2021 in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League at St Mary’s Kitende has come just at the right time as the two Giants are separated by a margin of a point in 1st and second positions.
A win to Police would put them in a comfortable lead with a margin of four points clear assuming URA loses against Wakiso Giants at home and Express doesn’t pick a point from BUL in Jinja on Sunday.
However, another scenario is that if both Express and URA win their fixtures and Vipers lose to Police, the Venoms would be pushed to 4th position but their win also ascends them to the top.
Consistency has been a challenge to the Venoms in their last fixtures drawing two and winning one in their last three fixtures however a victory would serve as a motivation to regain their confidence.
On the other hand, the corps who are leading with 16 points convincingly beating BUL 2-0 in mid-week have displayed a fine performance to earn a top spot which they would want to seal.
Despite the Cops’ fine form coming to Kitende, they know the task will not be an easy one bearing in mind that they have not picked even a single point from the St Mary’s Stadium in their previous visits.
The corps performance in the last four visits is not impressive having lost all the four. Four corps return to St Mary’s Kitende Stadium for the first time since departure (Frank Tumwesigye, Derrick Ochan, Henry Katongole and Duncan Sseninde).
