UPL: Mucurezi, Sserunkuma’s Deadly Attacks Leave Kitara Crying Foul As Vipers Secure First Win

Kampala: Vipers secured their first victory of the Star Times Uganda Premier league on Wednesday, 16th December 2020 against Kitara FC in a 2-1 encounter at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Kitara got in the lead in the 54th minute of the game with Brian Mululi Mayanja’s goal after a goalless half time.

The Venoms made close attempts on goal in the first half but the chances did not yield any fruitful score with the best opportunity falling on Muhammad Shaban in the 20th minute but denied by excellent Kitara goal keeper Hillington Musoke.

Fred Kajoba made a Vipers first substitution just a minute into the second half bringing on Bobosi Byaruhanga for Siraje Ssentamu.

Nine minutes later, Striker Dan Sserunkuma was introduced on replacing Najib Yiga to add pressure in persue of the equaliser. Later in the 59th minute, Vipers made a double substitution with Paul Mucurezi coming on forJamil Kaliisa and Denis Mwemezi for Disan Galiwango.

Kitara’s goal keeper fingertiped Goefrey Wasswa’s curly free kick in the 67th minute to keep the visitors in the lead and five minutes later Vipers made its

4th substitute handing Richard Basangwa his debut for the Venoms before Substitute Mucurezi headed in past Musoke to level for the hosts in the 81st minute.

Three minutes later, another substitute Dan Sserunkuma netted the winner the Venoms assisted by Muhammad Shaban. Sserunkuma later in the 88th minute attempted on the goal again but his effort denied by the cross bar and the game ended 2-1 in favour of Vipers.

In other Star Times Uganda Premier league games Mbarara City and Express FC settled for a 1-1 draw at Kakyeka Stadium as Kyetume ended UPDF’s unbeaten run with Mustafa Mujusi’s added minutes goal to end it 1-0 at the FUFA Technical center, Njeru.
