UPL:Police Secures Win Against Onduparaka, Returns To Second Place

Johnson Odongo’s brace and Erick Ssenjobe’s other goal were enough to secure all three points for the corps against Onduparaka in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League on Wednesday at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

Odongo converted home from the spot in the 25th minute put to Police in the lead before the caterpillars leveled matters through Emmanuel Okech six minutes into the second half.

Eric Ssenjobe left Onduparaka defenders crawling to put the ball in the net in the 76th minute to put corps in the driving seat again 2-1.

At this moment, it looked impossible for the caterpillars to come back into the game judging on the lethal attacks hunger, and pressure stage by the corps players.

It didn’t take long before Odongo bagged his second and third for Abdallah Mubiru’s side to seal the victory for the corps and a return to second place tied with Express FC on 19points.

The win was redemption from a disappointing 3-2 loss in the previous game against Vipers at Kitende. Derrick Ochan was on the bench after his red card was revoked by the UPL referees panel on Wednesday afternoon.

Elsewhere URA overcame Hoima based side Kitara on 3-2 courtesy of Steven Mukwala’s 5th minute equaliser to cancel Ronald Kyamanywa’s second-minute opener for the hosts.

Brian Majwega netted in the 9th minute to put the tax collectors in the lead 2-1 before Shafik Kagimu scored the winner for the visitors. Denis Monday converted another penalty in the 54th minute to make it 2-3 for Kitara. Both sides tried to add on the scores but it ended 3-2 in favour of URA.

Finally UPDF collected all three points from a struggling Mbarara city at the Bombo military Barracks grounds, thanks to Brian Kalumba’s 46th opener and Brian Mayanja’s second in the 71st minute to seal the victory for the army side.

UPDF FC ended the winless streak after going for straight games without picking a point from the game.
