UWA Announces Birth Of New Baby Gorilla At Bwindi National Park

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has announced the birth of a new mountain gorilla at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the Kanungu district.

The Authority Senior Communications Officer Bashir Hangi confirmed that the mother of the new baby gorilla is just 18 years old.

TheSpy Uganda has learnt that the new baby gorilla born on Friday, 15th, July 2022 has been named Murema of the Kutu group in Rushaga.

”Murema whose name means ‘lame’, due to a natural handicap in one of her fingers, now has welcomed two successful births. Her first baby called Dunia who was born five years ago is growing fast,” said Hangi.

He adds that with this new birth, the Kutu gorilla family has grown to 21 members under the able leadership of Silverback Ndugu.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda on the rim of the Rift Valley.
