Victoria University has officially unveiled the “20 Years of Pastor Wilson Bugembe Music” mega concert—a historic celebration honoring two decades of transformative gospel music and ministry. The launch event, held today at the university auditorium, drew an audience of over 1,000 newly admitted students for the July–August intake and left many moved by Bugembe’s deeply personal story of survival, faith, and triumph.

The main concert is scheduled for August 8, 2025, at the prestigious Kampala Serena Hotel, with tickets available via the MTN MoMo app for UGX 120,000 (early bird) and UGX 3 million per table.

In an emotionally charged session, Pastor Bugembe shared the gripping story of his childhood—how he lost both parents at a young age and lived on the streets of Kampala before being taken in by a kind stranger who brought him to church. There, a small offering from compassionate believers gave him the first glimmer of hope: a mattress, clean clothes, and the belief that his life could change.

Today, Bugembe is not only a celebrated gospel artist and senior pastor at The Worship House, Nansana, but also the founder of Mercy Child Care Centre in Wakiso, where he now shelters and uplifts children who walk the same path he once did.
A Historic Partnership With Purpose

During the event, Bugembe expressed heartfelt gratitude to Victoria University and MTN Uganda for being the first to sponsor his milestone concert.
“This is the very first time a university is backing my concert—and not just any university, but one that’s transforming lives,” Bugembe said. “How can I thank Prof. Muganga enough? He has taken in five children from my orphanage on full bursaries—I don’t pay a single coin. That’s a heart for God and for the future.”
The gesture underscores Victoria University’s commitment to inclusive education and social transformation.
A Vice Chancellor’s Call To Impact
Speaking at the launch, Vice Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Muganga welcomed new students with a powerful message centered on innovation, purpose, and social responsibility.
“We’re not here to fill your heads with notes and leave you empty-handed after graduation,” Muganga told students. “You study for only 15 hours a week—use the rest to build something meaningful, solve problems, and change lives.”
He reiterated Victoria University’s position as Uganda’s most technologically advanced university, offering laptops on a three-year loan basis and encouraging all students to transition fully from paper to digital tools. “This is a digital university—we expect all our students to use smartphones or laptops. This is the world we live in,” he said.
Muganga also challenged students to embrace the digital economy, urging them to harness the power of the internet and artificial intelligence (AI) to create careers and income streams beyond the classroom.
Concert Tickets, Testimonies & Transformative Vibes
As the launch drew to a close, Bugembe turned the auditorium into a mini-concert, leading the crowd through a joyful sing-along of his gospel hits. A few lucky students who impressed him with their vocals walked away with free tickets to the upcoming August 8 event.
The “20 Years of Pastor Bugembe” concert, fully backed by Victoria University and MTN, promises to be a night of celebration, reflection, and worship—honoring a journey from the streets to the stage, from pain to purpose.
Victoria University continues to redefine the higher education experience in Uganda—where students are not only equipped with knowledge, but also inspired to live purposefully, give back, and lead boldly.
