Kampala: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Commander-in-Chief (CiC) of all the armed forces in Uganda has commended the Special Forces Command (SFC) forces for acting ‘professionally’ while ‘disciplining’ the Kyadondo East legislator Hon.Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine in Arua, while campaigning for Hon.Kassiano Wadri in 2018.

Museveni made the remarks yesterday while passing out 4809 Police trainees at Police Training School in Kabalye, Masindi, where he said that he was very happy with the way SFC officers punished Kyagulanyi whom he said was trying to box them despite being heavily armed.

“The other day there was a fracas in West Nile where our young friend Bobi Wine tried to fight with security people, I think they beat him a bit and then they came to me and said that an MP was beaten, I said okay, let me study how he was beaten,” Museveni said.

He added that when they (SFC) went where Bobi Wine was, after causing some problems a day before, he (Bobi Wine) tried to attack them.“When I studied, I found the man had been beaten properly, in the right way. This was because when the SFC people, who are not police, they are used to do other things actually managed to act properly. I was surprised.” Museveni approved.

“This honourable member boxed them, they also tried to box back until they subdued him and after, they did not beat him again. So I was surprised that these people acted properly, it was self defence and beyond self defence they didn’t beat. It was in order,” Museveni said.

Meanwhile, it’s in the same fracas that a life was lost; #BobiWine’s driver, Yasin Kawuma was shot at and lost his life on the same fateful day but President Museveni didn’t mention anything about the circumstances surrounding his death, whether those who shot at him also did so ‘correctly’.

However in response, presidential aspirant  Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, who cheated death by God’s grace in the same chaos in Arua, posted on his facebook page in response, and revealed that it was ashaming for a head of state to publicly admit that he stood in the way of justice and ensured that perpetrators were never punished.

Kyagulanyi added that it is hurting that even those who shot his driver Yasin Kawuma were never punished, instead Museveni is busy emboldening new soldiers and recruits to brutalise Ugandans as the nation nears the forthcoming general elections.

“He is commissioning them to go and commit atrocities against the people, well knowing that he’s got their back!”

Kyagulanyi’s full statement reads;

“Yoweri Museveni, Uganda’s military dictator justifying my torture to near death by his guards in Arua in 2018. Shamelessly, he admits that he stood in the way of justice and ensured that perpetrators were never punished! Not even those who shot Yasin Kawuma. He says this to embolden new soldiers and recruits to brutalise Ugandans as we near the election. He is commissioning them to go and commit atrocities against the people, well knowing that he’s got their back!

Pathetic that he says I tried to box his guards who were armed with all sorts of weapons!

I can assure Mr. Kaguta Museveni that you will never have the last laugh. All brutal despots throughout history have found great pleasure in the pain of their victims, but they never have the last laugh!”
