We Shall Not Develop If Africans Continue To Sleep On Their Resources & Start Lamenting: Museveni

HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officiated at the closure of the 4th Bi-Annual CEO retreat at the Kiira Motors Vehicle Plant in Mutai, Jinja District where he noted that his government wants to build an economy which is integrated vertically, horizontal and self sustaining by ensuring that manufacturing is put at the pivot using wealth in natural resources and raw materials so as to achive a qualitative leap.

Museveni noted that God will punish Africans for not using their resources well, ”we have forests for instance, but we are here buying furniture from the Arabs who stay in the desert. How can we sit on imported furniture here?”

He added, ”secondly, the transport economy is worth USD 17trillion but we are getting none of it.”

Museveni says Africa can not make a plane, a computer, or medicine, can’t even make furniture before he wondered, ”what sort of people are we? Then we say we are experts, experts of what? Ignorance?”

The leader says countries like South Korea, Japan etc do not have the resources that Uganda has, but they are far prosperous. ”I appeal to everybody concerned to wake up.”

Africa is a resource-rich continent and it’s projected that West Africa, East Africa, Central Africa and Southern Africa in particular, will reach a combined GDP of $29 trillion by 2050.
