Kampala: With only few hours to President Museveni’s communication about school reopening, Makerere University through its official social media platforms, has this evening cancelled the earlier announced reporting day of newly promoted final year students till further notice.
According to the university facebook post, finalists will not report due to technical reasons till further notes when the new date will be communicated.
“Due to technical challenges, Makerere University will not open her doors to finalists on 6th February 2021 as earlier planned. A new date for the opening will be communicated soon. All inconveniences are regretted.”
It is worth noting that Makerere’s communication still has come after the Cabinet resolution to reopen for all students apart from pre-primary although no date has been set, something that a couple of Ugandans expect President Museveni to clarify in his address today.
Cabinet resolved that in order to complete the academic year and ensure progression, all semi candidate classes, which include Primary Six, Senior three and senior five should report back to school in the short term and study with the candidate classes.
Ministers also resolved that promotion to the next class will be based on attendance and continuous assessment of classwork and assignments.
