Northern Uganda: Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has denied issuing licences to three clubs in the Northern Region 3rd Division League over flouting registration procedures.
TheSpy Uganda has learnt that the clubs; Kitgum Rwotker FC, Kalongo United FC in Agago and Aboke Lions from Oyam district were warming up for their Wednesday and Thursday opening matches however, it was disapointing when they received a notice that the fixture had been deferred.
According to the fixtures, Kitgum Rwotker FC was supposed to play away game against Northern Elephants, Kalongo United FC in Agago was to welcome U-Touch while Aboke Lions in Oyam was to host Kakira FC in the competition.
Patrick Okot, the FUFA Competition Manager for the league said that the affected clubs did not provide the required documents for their respective players like the National Identification Documents – IDs.
Okot also disclosed that some of the clubs like Aboke Lions used outdated NIIRA forms, not in the database and therefore they registered online using a wrong link implying their data did not reach FUFA for vetting.
According to Okot, fixtures for the three teams have been postponed until they are cleared by FUFA in Kampala.
Up to 20 clubs from 17 districts in Acholi and Lango sub-regions are taking part in the championship starting Saturday and ending in April 2020.
The third tier (Regional Leagues) is organised by the regional football associations including the fourth tier (District Leagues / Fourth Division).
