West Ankore Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev Johnson Twinomujuni has Monday 16th March 2020 issued a directive to suspend all Pastoral visits and confirmation services in his diocese over the deadly corona virus until further notice.

In his letter seen by this website, Bishop Twinomujuni directed all the church leaders to implement this directive with immediate effect.

“The office of the Bishop of West Ankore diocese informs the public that all Pastoral visits and confirmation services have been suspended in efforts to prevent the spread of COVOID -19 disease. The suspension is in accordance with the ministry of health and church of Uganda guidelines, therefore archdeacons, vicars, curates, lay leaders and the entire laity are hereby informed that the suspension starts with immediate effect and they enforce its measure,” reads the letter in part.

However, he emphasized that the weekly services and other smaller church functions will continue as always but advised the leaders to observe the health ministry’s guidelines.

“The weekly services and other smaller church functions will continue as always BUT the leaders are instructed to strictly observe the ministry’s guidelines by ensuring that the use of sanitizer and other given safety measures till other instructions are issued. The suspension will be lifted when the environment is safe for us to continue doing God’s work,” he said.

Although he suspended his pastoral visits, but most churches in Sheema and Bushenyi districts haven’t yet done the best to avoid this corona virus by not having sanitizers plus clean water at the entry of their respective churches hence leaving situation unpreventable.
