KAMPALA-As the world rapidly embraces the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Uganda finds itself at the epicenter of the conversation on digital transformation this week. The highly anticipated Middle East & Africa Digital Transformation Summit officially opens today at the Kampala Serena Hotel, running from June 25 to 27, 2025. The summit brings together thought leaders, policymakers, technocrats, investors, and innovators from across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region under the theme Empowering Innovation for Inclusive Growth.

Among the distinguished speakers at the summit is Edward Kataaha, Managing Director of Vertex, who has emerged as a promising voice in the region’s digital and financial technology ecosystem. Kataaha’s presence at this high-profile event signals his growing influence in Uganda’s business and innovation sectors.

A seasoned financial expert, Kataaha previously worked with the global auditing giant Ernst & Young (EY), where he built an impressive track record in financial advisory and audit. His exceptional work caught the attention of Innocent Kawooya, the founder and CEO of HiPipo, widely regarded as Uganda’s godfather of Financial Technology. Henry Lutwama, co-founder of Solar M7 – will present new models for powering rural Africa using solar and digital payments.

Niklas Inderst, CTO of My Doctor, Bridget Wamai (ClinicPesa CEO), and Chrispinus Onyancha (My Doctor CEO) – will discuss technology’s role in expanding health access.

Ololade Olakitan Shyllon, Director of Privacy Policy at Meta – will lead a conversation on trust, data protection, and digital responsibility in emerging markets.
