Woman Pours Acid On Cousin Over Business, Remanded

By Andrew Irumba

A heartless woman who burnt her cousin with acid after she refused to surrender her business to her is languishing in Lugazi prisons after she was remanded by the Lugazi Magistrates court.

Sarah Nabawoya 40, allegedly poured acid on her cousin only identified as Babirye, which permanenently blinded her on top of burning her all over the body.
Court heard that Nabawoya poured acid on Babirye on June 29, 2013, in Kitega local council in Kawolo Division, Lugazi Municipality while she was on her way home after work.

It’s alleged that Babirye employed Nabawoya in her salon but after one year Nabawoya requested to use the salon as collateral to acquire a loan to start, but Babirye refused, which annoyed Nabawoya and she decided to revenge.
Following the gruesome attack, Babibrye suffered severe burns on her face which left her blind, lost her breast nipples, part of her stomach and the hands were burnt.

After the incident Nabawoya fled into hiding on Buvuma Island for 6 years until last week when she was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
