The territorial Police in Bukedi South and Tororo have in custody a one Okongo Gerald, a 25-year, resident of Asinga “B” village, Malaba Town Council, for the kidnap, aggravated defilement and murder of a one-and-a-half-year-old, female juvenile identified as Promise Atte.

According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, the girl victim was last seen playing with a 2-year-old child on 30.06.2023 at around midnight, from Mama Musa’s bar, at Asinga “B” Zone, where her mother, Naziwa Grace, was drinking from. The following day on 01.07.2023, at around 7:30 am, the body of the 18-month-old victim was found lying dead in a cassava garden in Amagoro central. ”The K9 dog was introduced to the scene and led to the arrest of the suspect.”

”She sustained vicious physical injuries across the body and her private parts. She was an innocent toddler, who would have felt safe and secure in the presence of an older person,” says Enanga adding,” What is particularly horrifying is that the victim was still a toddler, dressed in pampers for very young children.”

In other news, the territorial Police in Mukono are actively hunting for a one Wabembasha Enock, a 25-year-old resident of Nabutu Zone, Seeta ward, Goma Division for the alleged murder by strangling his girlfriend, one Hajat Namboozo Fatuma, aged 28, resident of Bulijo village, Kyampisi parish, Nagalama Sub- County in Mukono District on the night of 1.07.2023.
