Betty Kamya Warns Erias Lukwago For Inciting Violence

By Benson Tumusiime

The minister for Kampala and metropolitan affairs Hon. Betty Kamya has warned the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago on inciting violence and causing chaos in the authority shortly after the executive director Madam Jenifer Musisi tendered in her resignation as the ED for the authority.

Hon. Betty Kamya while addressing the media at the Uganda Media center in Kampala yesterday stated that the activities of the authority are run by the office of the ED not the office of the Mayor as it is stated in the constitution under KCCA act 2010.
She added that what the Lord Mayor is doing now puts the authority at risk and it is against the law.

“I saw the Lord Mayor on TV demanding for the accountability of Madam Jennifer Musisi before she leaves office, but Madam Musisi is still in office for more two months besides Musisi works under the contract of which among its requirements is to make the accountability and handover report to office of the auditor general and ministry of public service but not to the office of the lord Mayor,” Hon. Kamya added.

Furthermore, she also warned all the city vendors and hawkers for doing business illegally.
