Boda Boda Operators In Fear As Thugs Shoot Cyclist

Kakumiro: Uganda Police is on a hunt for a yet to be identified thugs who raided and shot Andrew Bigirwenkya, a Boda Boda cyclist in Kakumiro District.

The incident happened in the wee hours of Friday, October 18, 2019, at his home in Wabitama Village Kitegura parish Nkoko sub-county Kakumiro district.

Bigirwemkya battled with robbers who had ordered him to surrender the money. The robbers after wanted to steal his Bajaj motorcycle registration number UEW 678X. He sounded an alarm, forcing the thugs to shoot him on the right arm and stomach.

He was rushed in critical condition to Nkoko health Centre III where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Najib Waiswa, the Kakumiro District Police Commander said that two bullet cartridges were recovered at the crime scene.

Waiswa wanted members of the public to join hands with security operatives to ensure that the gun used by the suspected robbers is recovered.

He said that robbers could be hiding in areas of Kyankwanzi, Kiboga, Kakumiro, Mubende and Hoima.
