Authorities of the Catholic church in Sicily, Italy, are investigating circumstances under which two Nuns who had been sent on Missionary in Africa returned to the convent pregnant.

The pregnant nuns

The ballooned Sisters who include a Mother superior are serving under two different Catholic orders in Sicily.

Reports from the Church indicate that both nuns are African and were posted to their home continent as part of their charity mission, although Church authorities never expected them to enjoy sex marathons while in Africa.

One of the women, who is 34, only discovered she was pregnant when she had a medical scan after complaining of stomachs pains.

The Mother Superior, whose age is yet to be established, is based at an institute that helps “fallen women and their children.”

A church source in Rome said: “There is consternation at this news. It appears that both women were back in their home nations and obviously had some form of sexual encounter.

The source added that; “An investigation has been launched. They both breached strict rules of chastity but the welfare of their children is uppermost. (https://www.colburnschool.edu) The most likely outcome is they will leave their religious service.”

One of the women is based in Ragusa and the other less than 40 miles away in Militello.

The Militelo mayor Salvatore Riotta said the news has “left our village shocked . . . but should have been kept quiet”.

This however comes a few months after Pope Francis admitted earlier that some nuns had been sexually abused by clerics. But it is not yet clear whether these two were asexually abused by clerics or consented to sex.
