The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the new Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Armoured Division headquartered in Masaka.

Brig. Gen. Pande Kajuba replaces Major General Deus Sande, who passed away yesterday after suffering severe breathing complications. The late Maj. Gen. Sande has been hailed for his distinguished service and steadfast leadership of the Armoured Division.

Before his elevation, Brig. Gen. Pande Kajuba served as Deputy Commander of the same division, working closely with the late Maj. Gen. Sande. His appointment is expected to ensure continuity and operational stability within one of the UPDF’s key combat formations.

In the same development, Colonel Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara of the Special Forces Command (SFC) has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed Deputy Commander of the UPDF Armoured Division. The changes take immediate effect.

Confirming the appointments, the Acting Director of Defence Public Information, Colonel Chris Magezi, congratulated the officers and expressed confidence in their leadership.

“The Chief of Defence Forces has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the Commander of the UPDF Armoured Division. Colonel Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara has also been promoted to Brigadier General and appointed Deputy Commander. These appointments take immediate effect,” Col. Magezi stated.

He added, “We congratulate the General officers on their well-deserved appointments and wish them good luck in the execution of their duties.”

The new leadership is expected to further strengthen the operational readiness and strategic capabilities of the Armoured Division as it continues to play a vital role in safeguarding Uganda’s security.
