Kampala — Uganda’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has lavished praise on the fervent legion of Uganda Cranes supporters whose thunderous chants reverberated through Namboole Stadium during Friday night’s 3–0 demolition of Guinea, while simultaneously issuing an unambiguous call for uncompromising personal safety as the CHAN PAMOJA 2024 momentum gathers ferocious pace.

Flanked by media at the Uganda Media Centre on Sunday, Dr. Dennis K. Mugimba—Chair of the LOC’s Communications and Signage Subcommittee—described the 34,175-strong crowd as “the wind beneath the Cranes’ wings,” declaring their energy “a vital ingredient in our continental resurgence.” He observed that the spectacle dwarfed the attendance for the opening fixture against Algeria, and graciously acknowledged Guinea’s own contingent for injecting vibrancy into the occasion.

Ticket Frenzy and Strict Entry Protocols
Dr. Mugimba disclosed that match-day tickets are vanishing within hours, with online sales the sole avenue for acquisition. The LOC is warning latecomers that gates will be sealed precisely 15 minutes before the final whistle on double-header days—valid passes notwithstanding.

Security Over Spectacle: Banned Items Enumerated

In a robust defence of the vuvuzela prohibition, Dr. Mugimba cited empirical research revealing noise levels of 131 decibels—akin to a roaring jet engine—capable of inflicting irreversible auditory damage. Whistles, laser pointers, sharp implements, alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, oversized flags, professional-grade cameras, and umbrellas are similarly proscribed, with any confiscated contraband forfeited without recourse.

Child Safety and Crowd Discipline Paramount

With a swelling influx of young fans, guardians are being urged to select calmer seating zones, employ ear protection where necessary, maintain constant visual contact, eschew consumables offered by strangers, and pre-identify exits, stewards, and rendezvous points.

All patrons are further counselled to arrive early, submit to security protocols without altercation, minimise the carriage of cash or valuables, refrain from surging toward exits, exit in known groups, remain vigilant to suspicious behaviour, and temper emotional outbursts regardless of match outcomes.

“These prescriptions,” Dr. Mugimba underscored, “are not shackles upon celebration but safeguards ensuring every supporter departs with indelible, joyous memories of CHAN.”

Monday Night Double-Header
Match Day Three will pit South Africa against Guinea at 5 p.m., before Uganda locks horns with Niger at 8 p.m. The Cranes, perched second in Group C with three points from two contests, will be hunting a second successive victory under the floodlit theatre of Namboole.
