Kampala — A sophisticated AI-generated deepfake video fraudulently depicting business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia endorsing a questionable financial platform, “OredexiaMarket™,” has triggered widespread concern, after the tycoon categorically disowned the scheme and warned the public against digital manipulation-driven scams.

The video, now circulating across multiple social media channels, features a strikingly convincing synthetic voice resembling Dr. Sudhir, urging unsuspecting viewers to “take advantage of this opportunity” and enroll in what is portrayed as a groundbreaking financial solution designed to “help families become wealthier.”

To enhance its deceptive appeal, the clip is packaged with visual elements mimicking a credible news publication, creating the false impression of legitimacy and editorial endorsement.

However, in an exclusive telephone interview with our Chief Spy and CEO Andrew Irumba, Dr. Sudhir firmly distanced himself from the purported initiative.

“This is completely fake. I have not launched any such app, and I am not involved in anything called OredexiaMarket,” Sudhir stated. “People must be extremely cautious. AI is now being misused to deceive the public.”

He emphasized that emerging artificial intelligence technologies have significantly lowered the barrier for fraudsters to clone voices, fabricate endorsements, and exploit the credibility of high-profile individuals.

In the manipulated footage, the cloned voice asserts: “Due to the financial crisis around the world, we have created a new platform to help families become wealthier,” before encouraging viewers to register and participate—language consistent with high-risk, high-return investment lures often associated with online financial scams.

Andrew Irumba, who personally verified the claims with Sudhir, described the incident as a critical warning sign in the evolving landscape of cyber fraud.

“This is no longer speculation—AI is actively being weaponized. The public must become more vigilant and verify every investment claim before committing their money,” Irumba cautioned.

Digital security observers note that deepfake-enabled scams are increasingly targeting influential figures across Africa, leveraging their reputations to manufacture trust and accelerate victim uptake. The convergence of synthetic media, persuasive messaging, and economic vulnerability presents a potent threat to financial security.

Members of the public are urged to disregard the circulating video, avoid engaging with the advertised platform, and rely solely on verified, official communication channels when assessing financial opportunities.
