A politically struggling politician who was previosuly trounced by Lord Mayor Eria Lukwago in the Kampala lord mayor race has opted going back to school in a bid to revive his academic career that had since been eaten up by music.
The Spy Uganda has learnt that after completing his UACE exams last year in February at Katuuso Community Secondary School, singer Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has enrolled for a fresh course at Cavendish University.
The source adds that the singer is preparing for the 2026 elections and this time plans for a bigger post which is not yet to be established but the source revealed that the singer is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations.
During the lockdown, the singer had dropped hints about enrolling for an online course but he didn’t disclose which university he was taking the course from.
“This period has really given us a lot of time. We artists are now making new music because of the time that we have. In fact, I am studying online for a degree in International Diplomacy,” he wrote on his Facebook timeline.
Chameleon joins other artists who have since run back to school to secure their future academically one of them being the former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka the ghetto gladiator well known as Bobi Wine who joined law school at the International University of East Africa in 2016.
It should be noted Bobi Wine is a graduate student of Music Dance and Drama from Makerere University.
Another singer is Geoffrey Lutaaya, boss of the Eagles Production who took a break in 2018 and went back to school and enrolled for a plumbing course with an aim of getting the required qualifications to stand for the political office of a member of parliament which he finally scooped in previously concluded polls.
