NBS Television producer Badru Kasirye and fellow Next Media staffer Isaac Ndamagye have died in a road accident along the Entebbe Road corridor in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026.
Their colleague, Brian “Makona of Uganda” Ssemanda, survived the crash and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receiving treatment.
According to information circulating after the crash, the three were reportedly travelling from Supremacy Lounge in Nankulabye, where they had attended a celebrity boxing match involving boxing 🥊 amateurs, Chicken Chicken and comedian Shawa.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred around Stabex in Namulanda along Entebbe Road. Further details about the circumstances of the crash have not yet been officially released.
In a statement issued Friday, Next Media Services Ltd, the parent company of NBS Television, confirmed that the accident involved the three members of staff.
“Next Media confirms a road accident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026, along Entebbe Road, involving three members of staff: Badru Kasirye, Isaac Ndamagye, and Brian ‘Makona’ Ssemanda.”
The company confirmed that Kasirye and Ndamagye died in the crash, while Ssemanda remains in ICU.
“Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye unfortunately lost their lives in the accident. Brian ‘Makona’ Ssemanda is in the Intensive Care Unit receiving treatment, under close watch from his medical team.”
Next Media said it remains in direct contact with the hospital and will provide updates on Ssemanda’s condition as they become available, while appealing for privacy for the families.
PAP Chairman Andrew Irumba: “Badru was Actually Our Product”
Kasirye’s death has also sent shockwaves through the Pan African Pyramid (PAP) fraternity, with its founding Speaker and Chairman Andrew Irumba describing him as one of the young media professionals whose journey into journalism and Pan-Africanism Irumba impacted with Dr.Yigga Sirajje, former Director at Crane Media Institute and now a senior lecturer at MUBS.
Irumba revealed that he first met Kasirye at Crane Media Institute in Wandegeya, where Kasirye studied journalism and where Irumba had vested interests. It was during this period that Irumba introduced and mentored the young journalist into the ideals of Pan-Africanism and ethical journalism.
“It’s extremely bad Friday to me and the entire PAP fraternity! 😩😩. Badru was actually our product from Crane Media Institute in Wandegeya, and I personally initiated and mentored him into Pan Africanism. I was also among the first guests on his Salaam TV show which he hosted while still at former premises in Kamwokya. RIP 😩,” Irumba said.
Kasirye subsequently became one of the early media professionals associated with PAP, maintaining a relationship with the movement as he built his career in broadcasting.
At NBS, Kasirye had grown into a producer entrusted with the smooth coordination and running of programme schedules. His responsibilities put him behind the scenes of some of the programming that reached NBS audiences.
Ironically, Irumba said, Kasirye had only recently placed the running schedule for advertisements promoting the upcoming Pan African Pyramid Global Awards for this August into the NBS log, continuing his contribution to a movement whose ideals he had embraced from his early days in journalism.
His death therefore represents a painful loss not only to Next Media and Uganda’s media fraternity, but also to PAP, where colleagues remember him as a young boy whose media career and Pan-African journey grew side by side.
