The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), working jointly with the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), has summoned officials of the Uganda Music Promoters SACCO (UMPS) to participate in investigations into the alleged mismanagement of public funds.

According to an official police letter dated February 6, 2026, the investigations relate to Shs1.5 billion that was reportedly provided by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the SACCO as a revolving fund in January 2026.

The invitation, addressed to the Chairperson of Uganda Music Promoters SACCO, Paul Katongole, directs selected leaders of the SACCO to appear before investigators at the SHACU offices on the 4th Floor of Parliament Building, Office of the President, on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 9:00am.

Those required to appear include Mayanja Godfrey, Kawesi Yasin, Abbey Musinguzi, and Kafero Zaidi.

The letter, signed by Sawedi Mohammed on behalf of the Deputy Director CID in charge of Economic Fraud and Anti-Corruption, indicates that the summons is part of ongoing inquiries and requests the cooperation of the SACCO leaders to aid the investigations.
Police emphasized that the exercise is investigative in nature, as authorities seek to establish how the funds were managed and whether they were utilized in line with their intended purpose.
The Uganda Police Force has not yet released further details on the scope of the probe, but reiterated its commitment to accountability and transparency in the management of public resources.
