Wilson Tibugyenda, the Kabale District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has died Spy Uganda reports.
A family member told our reporter this evening that that Mr Tibugyenda passed away at around 2:30PM on Wednesday at his home in Mbarara Municipality.
The CAO had been battling Pancreatic Cancer for a number of years, the source said.
Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye, the Kabale District Vice Chairperson confirmed the death of Tibugyenda shortly after his passing.
She said the CAO had been on sick leave since February this year, and that at the time of his death, efforts were underway to fly him to India for treatment. Asinga said burial arrangements are on-going.
Patrick Besigye Keihwa, the Kabale District chairman described the death of Tibugyenda as a big loss.
He termed the deceased as a hardworking officer, who was non-partisan and incorruptible.
Tibugyenda was transferred to Kabale from Kisoro in May 2017 replacing Abert Matsiko Mutungwire.
He also served as CAO in the districts of Rukungiri, Mbarara, Kabong and Ibanda.
