Kasese Police Investigate Drowning Incident Involving Young Herdsman

Police in Hima Division, Kasese District, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic drowning of an 18-year-old herdsman, Bwambale Paul, in Ruhita Village, Hima Parish, Kitswamba Sub-county.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. while Bwambale was grazing goats near a community valley dam. It is alleged that one of the goats strayed toward the dam to drink water and drowned. In an attempt to rescue the goat, Bwambale unfortunately also drowned, resulting in his death.

Hima Division Police Commander, SP Suzan Nerima Bwire, and her team swiftly responded to the scene after receiving the report. The body of the deceased was retrieved and conveyed to Kasese Municipal Health Centre III for a postmortem examination to establish the precise cause of death.

Speaking on the incident, SP Nelson Tumushime, Police Spokesperson for Kasese, confirmed that investigations are ongoing to gather more details about the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

The Kasese police have urged the public, particularly those living near open water bodies, to exercise caution and ensure that young people are supervised when near dams, rivers, or lakes to prevent similar incidents.
