“The army should continue this way, building its facilities and saving money. You should do this especially for lodgings for soldiers. It is not right for soldiers to sleep outside the barracks,” said Museveni, adding that “What if war broke out in the night, where would we find you?”

Besides saving money, Museveni said that since contractors borrow from banks with high-interest rates, military facilities like these need a certain degree of privacy and confidentiality.

“Building them yourselves helps, ” Museveni said, warning that encroachers on army land should not be tolerated.

“Encroachers should either compensate the army if they have built on the land or vacate the land and ownership reverts to the UPDF,” he said.

The Special Forces Command (SFC) is a specialized component of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) tasked with carrying out specialized missions or operations at a moment’s notice.

The SFC while conducting its operations coordinates closely with the two main arms or services of the UPDF, that is, the Land Forces and the Air Forces.

The SFC main headquarters are found in Entebbe, Wakiso District, but also has sub-units stationed in different parts of the country. SFC units working alongside the regular UPDF are also active in theatres of operations, such as South-Sudan and the Peace Keeping Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
