Ruben Kimome Araali, popularly known as Makubebe, has officially been declared the newly elected District Chairperson (LCV) of Kabarole District following a decisive victory in the just-concluded local government elections.
According to the DR Form for Transmission of Results for Local Government Council Elections 2025, issued by the Electoral Commission, Kimome, who contested on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket, garnered 28,371 votes, emerging the overall winner.

His closest challenger, Wilfred Mugabe, an independent candidate, secured 14,955 votes, while another independent contender, Ronnie Ruhundwa Gafabusa, trailed with 1,327 votes.

The declaration form, signed and stamped by the Returning Officer for Kabarole Electoral District, explicitly states:
“I declare KIMOME RUBEN ARAALI as the candidate who obtained the highest number of votes to be elected District Chairperson for KABAROLE Electoral District.”
Out of a total 44,653 valid votes cast, Kimome’s performance translates into a commanding 63.5 percent of the vote.
Wilfred Mugabe polled 33.5 percent, while Ronnie Ruhundwa Gafabusa managed a marginal 3 percent.

In raw numerical terms, Kimome defeated Mugabe by a massive 13,416 votes, representing a 30 percentage-point gap, underscoring the scale of the mandate handed to him by the electorate.
Political Context
Kimome replaces Richard Rwabuhinga, who vacated the LCV seat to contest for parliamentary office but was decisively trounced in that race, bringing an end to his bid to retain political relevance at the national level.
The Electoral Commission document further confirms that the election process complied with statutory requirements under the Local Governments Act, Cap 138, with results duly recorded at Busoro Sub-County Headquarters, Kabarole District.

With a landslide endorsement from voters across the district, Kimome Makubebe now assumes office with both political legitimacy and public expectation firmly on his shoulders.
Congratulations to comrade Ruben Kimome Araali, the new political helmsman of Kabarole District.
