Owino’s Nkaja Kayongo Flees Country Over Torture Victims

Old Kampala Police Station has instituted an investigation on a city businessman against whom more than 81 complaints have been reported in a period of just two months at Owino Market police post, spyUganda reports.

Mr. Godfery Nkaja Kayongo, Executive Director of St.Balikuddembe Market stalls space and lockup shops owners association (SSLOA also known as Owino Market has multiple files against him from various complainants ranging from torture, mistreatment and harassment victims.

According to a police source at old Kampala, the cases against Kayongo were reported by owino market traders and vendors saying that Kayongo used notorious criminal gangs at Owino market to beat, harass and mistreat vendors operating in the market on reasons which are not clear.

According to the chairman St.Balikuddembe Market, Owino Mr. Lwanga Joseph,many traders and vendors in in the market have become victims of torture, others imprisoned on baseless reasons because of efforts of Kayongo and his notorious group that camp in owino Market to camouflage as market leaders whereas not.

Mr.Lwanga added that Kayongo and his group have been terrorizing Market vendors using the names of the former inspector general of police Gen Kale Kayihura saying that they have overwhelming authority over the market.

“Because police had not helped us on our cases reported against Kayongo, Owino market management wrote to the president seeking his intervention such that the lives of traders and property can be assured” Kayongo added.

Sources close to Kayongo told SpyUganda that since an investigation against Kayongo begun, he switched off all his phones and reportedly fled the country upon learning that he is a wanted man.
