Ibrahim Orit blocked the deadlock for the Venoms in the 32nd minute with a superb header thanks to Disan Galiwango’s spectacular delivery.

Richard Basangwa should have found the net earlier in the 25th minute for Vipers but his well-headed ball from a cross by Orit was brilliantly palmed away by the visitors’ goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa.

Orit headed in for the hosts to put them in the lead moments later and the goalkeeper had no chance this time.

Three minutes later, Busoga United had a chance to level matters but Isaac Wagoina’s effort was acrobatically saved by elastic Fabien Mutombora the Viper’s custodian.

In the 40th minute, the Venoms Congolese striker Cesar Manzoki fluffed a golden opportunity in front of an open net putting the ball over the crossbar to deny the hosts the second.

Just a minute into the second half, Manzoki doubled the lead for Fred Kajoba’s side with a fine header courtesy of Galiwango’s cross.

Moments later, Orit got a glorious opportunity to stretch the lead but his effort went over the bar.

Kajoba made a double substitution bringing on Abraham Ndugwa and Paul Mucurezi to replace Orit and Basangwa in the 60th minute.

The Venoms kept on pressing until Manzoki found his second for the game, Viper’s third in the 90th.

Vipers now go into the return leg with a 3-0 advantage meaning Busoga United needs to defeat the Venoms at least 4-0 to eliminate them.
