Police in Kyebando has been working around the clock to rescue a woman who claimed she had been kidnapped and raped, only to find out that she had staged her own kidnap so she could spend the weekend with her new boyfriend she has been cheating on the husband with.
The woman identified as Margret Namukose on 7th June 2018 called her husband, told him that she was scheduled to attend a school meeting at Kasangati, however on the same day she failed to turn up at home and efforts to reach her through the phone were futile.
The worried husband later received a call from Namukose telling him that unknown men had kidnapped, raped her and dumped her in a certain forest.
Her husband opened a case of kidnap at Kyebando Police Post and police started to hunt for her by tracing her phone, which was finally allocated in Kampala.
But on 8th June 2018 at around 11:00am she resurfaced and was brought to police by her husband. She allegedly told the police that she had rescued herself and went to clinic for a check-up but when police went with Namukose to the alleged clinic, there were no records of her visit.
Upon further questioning she confessed that all this time the police were searching for her, she had not been kidnapped, but was in Serena Hotel with her new boyfriend.
Namukose is currently detained at Kira Road Police Station as she awaits to be arraigned before courts of law on charges of giving false information.
Her arrest comes at a time when the country is on high alert following a wave of kidnaps targeting girls and women only to surface dead in some cases.
Namukose wasted police time and resources where about 30 police were involved in the search, because as soon as the husband reported the matter, they swung into action.
