At Least 60 Killed In Ghana Bus Collision

At least 60 people were killed in Ghana bus collision, police have said.  The crash happened at about 2:00am (local time) in a town called Ampoma in the newly created Bono East Region, some 430 kilometres (270miles) by road north of the capital Accra.

“The vehicles were travelling in separate directions when the collision occurred”, police commander Joseph Antwi Gyawu told AFP”. At least 60 people have been confirmed dead and one of the buses caught fire with the other seriously mangled,” he added.

Kwame Arhin, a doctor at the Kintampo Government hospital said, 28 people were being treated for injuries, “seven out of the 28 passengers were rushed here in critical condition,” Arhin said.

The buses are reported to have engaged in a head-on collision on the Kintampo Techiman road, the road affected is one of the important routes connecting two parts of the country.

Police taking checking for any survivors

The registration numbers of the buses have been identified as GT 5694 18 and GT 3916 17, and they both had over 50 passengers on board.
