Its a dark moment for Ruparelia family which is passing through the tragedy of untimely death of their own Rajiv Ruparelia. Rajiv, the only son of business mogul Sudhir Ruparelia died in a deadly car accident that happened last night in Busabala.
According to the family’s statement, cremation (burial) will take place at the Hindu Crematorium in Lugogo on Tuesday, 6th May 2025, at 2:30 PM. In the interim, a vigil is being held at the family residence in Kololo, where close friends and relatives have gathered to mourn and celebrate the life of the beloved Rajiv.
The Ruparelia family has requested privacy as they navigate this challenging time, asking for the public’s understanding and respect as they come to terms with the tragic loss.
In a poignant reunion marked by grief, Rajiv’s elder sister, Meera Ruparelia Kotecha, arrived in Kampala accompanied by her husband, Ravi Kotecha. Meera, who has been living in Dubai since giving birth to twins, was visibly emotional as she reunited with family. Ravi Kotecha hails from a prominent Asian-Kenyan business family, and their wedding, held in London, was a lavish celebration of two powerful diasporic lineages.
The loss of Rajiv, who was known for his charisma, entrepreneurial spirit, and role within the Ruparelia Group, has sent shockwaves through both the business and social communities in Uganda and beyond.
The final rites on Tuesday are expected to draw notable figures from various sectors, honoring a man whose life, though brief, was marked by ambition, generosity, and a deep love for family.
