Uganda’s education fraternity is in deep mourning following the untimely passing of Mr. Rajiv Ruparelia, a celebrated educationist and Director of Victoria University and Delhi Public School International (DPSI). Rajiv breathed his last on May 3, 2025, at the age of 35, leaving behind a legacy that has deeply impacted thousands of learners, educators, and institutions.
A Loss Felt Across Campuses
In a heartfelt tribute, Delhi Public School International described Mr. Rajiv as an “esteemed school director” whose unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and boundless generosity shaped the institution in ways that will forever be cherished.
“His memory will forever remain in our hearts,” read the DPSI statement, issued alongside a glowing memorial poster honoring his life and contributions. “The entire DPSI community stands beside you, offering our deepest sympathies and unwavering support.”
Born on January 2, 1990, Rajiv Ruparelia grew to become a transformative figure in Uganda’s education sector. His work at DPSI, which is affiliated to CBSE in New Delhi, has been credited with setting new standards in international education in the country.

Meanwhile, Victoria University, where Rajiv also served as Director, issued an equally emotional tribute. The university called him a remarkable leader whose brilliance and passion were the driving forces behind the institution’s rise to prominence.
“At times, we are lost for words… and sometimes, the pain is simply too much to bear,” the statement read. “But all is not lost if we walk the path you showed us, if we honour your vision and the brilliance you brought to building this institution.”
Victoria University credited Rajiv with revolutionizing its identity through smart marketing strategies, consistent reinvestment of resources, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Under his stewardship, the university blossomed into one of the most recognized private universities in Uganda.
A Legacy That Lives On
Though the education community is overwhelmed with grief, both institutions emphasized their commitment to continue walking in the footsteps of a man whose vision transcended his years.
“You were a remarkable leader, Director Rajiv. And your legacy still reigns,” said Victoria University.
Rajiv Ruparelia’s passing is a monumental loss not just for the Ruparelia Group and the institutions he helped build, but for Uganda at large. As the nation mourns, it also reflects on the enduring legacy of a man who redefined what it means to lead with heart, vision, and purpose.
