2023 U17 AFCON Qualifiers: Uganda Cubs Hit The Ground Running In Convincing Win Against Burundi

Uganda U17 Football National Team sent a statement of intent in their opening game of the TotalEnergies U17 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

In the game played on Monday at Abebe Bikila stadium, Ethiopia, Uganda Cubs eased past Burundi, winning 4-0.

Alex Yiga led the way with a double while Arafat Nkoola and Richard Okello got a goal each.

Yiga gave Uganda a deserved lead in the 12th minute and by halftime, he had two goals to his name.

By halftime, Uganda was 3-0 up with the other go coming from Nkoola in the 38th minute.

The final goal for Uganda came from Okello in the 56th minute.

The team will return to action on the 6th of October against South Sudan and victory will send them to the semifinals.

It should be noted that there are two groups, each composed of three teams after the disqualification of Sudan and Djibouti.
