Kampala: Kampala Central MP, Muhammad Nsereko, has called upon all opposition member to unite and rally behind the National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine describing him as the only potential candidate who will give Museveni a running nose in the 2021 general elections.
”The reality is that the leading champion for change is Robert Kyagulanyi. If only we (opposition) would unite and rally behind him, we would be a stronger force, it is only logical for opposition members to unite and back Kyagulanyi who is clearly leading the race to end President Yoweri Museveni’s 35-year-old regime,” Nsereko said.
Nsereko’s endorsement to Bobi Wine comes just hours after Democratic Party Vice President Fred Mukasa Mbidde officially declared that he will support the NUP principal in the forthcoming elections.
According to Nsereko, the opposition has a chance to unite under Kyagulanyi even after the presidential nominations if the candidates’ mission is really to oust incumbent Museveni.
“We can only be stronger if we unite. We can not simply wish it away that Kyagulanyi is leading. Let us get behind him,” Nsereko added.
Nsereko further tasked the police force to act accordingly while enforcing Covid-19 guidelines, adding that Museveni had the capacity to postpone elections in order to safeguard the county against the pandemic but he did not.
”Force will not work. You can only persuade people not to join processions, harassing Kyagulanyi’s supporters is pathetic, when crowds see their darling, they will automatically come. You don’t have to beat people, let them suffer the pain (COVID19), and then you tell them, ‘this is what I told you,” Nsereko said.
In the same way, Nsereko castigated police for being partisan and only targeting the opposition, ”Police can’t do anything, It is making blunders after blunders. It is not only Kyagulanyi that is campaigning. You can see Bebe Cool is doing the same for President Museveni, and he is not beaten.”
