Former Kasese CAO & Principal Human Resource Officer Charged & Remanded Over Abuse Of Office

The State House Anti Corruption Unit working together with Police have arraigned in court the former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Kasese District Masereka Amis Asuman over kawukumi.

Masereka who is currently serving as the CAO of Bunyangabu District, together with the Principal Human Resource Officer (PHRO) Bihanikire Samson were arraigned at Anti-Corruption Court, Kololo in Kampala on charges of Abuse of Office and Causing Financial loss.

It is alleged that the duo abuse their offices when they irregularly reinstated six teachers who resigned from teaching service and joined politics for 10 years.

The teachers were irregularly reinstated back into service and were deployed in different five schools where they have been earning salary hence causing Government Financial Loss of over UGX20M. They have been remanded to prison.

The State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) in one year, 2022, managed to recover Ugx35.484bn from corruption masters of this country, annual report revealed.

The Unit also managed to arrest and arraign in court over 448 suspects. Among these, courts convicted 70 culprits including government accounting Officers, Executive Officers, managing directors, Secretaries of Commission, CAOs, and Town Clerks.

SH-ACU was established under Article 99(4) of the constitution of Uganda, which gives the President executive powers to either directly or indirectly perform his duties or through officers subordinate to him.

Launched on 10th December 2018, SH-ACU coordinates with all constitutionally mandated agencies to ensure corruption free country.

The Unit also acts as a link between H.E. the President, citizens, and Anti- Corruption agencies in relation to Anti-Corruption issues.
