Kampala: Finally National Unity Platform (NUP) bosses have come to a conclusion of pushing Kayunga by-election matters to Court protesting what they call “broad daylight thuggery” that saw their member losing to NRM candidate.

Electoral Commission Returning Officer, Jennifer Kyobutungi last week announced NRM’s Andrew Muwonge the winner with 31,830 votes whereas NUP’s Harriet Nakweede got 31,380.

Now, NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi dubbed Nakawa West MP told journalists today at his party headquarters that they can’t tolerate EC’s ‘connivance with the junta’ to steal their victory and that’s why they are heading to Court.

Furthermore, Ssenyonyi said that they have tried everything to get the EC tally sheet as the norm should be, but EC officials have refused to grant them access.

He said, “Byabakama and his thugs have refused to give us tally sheets because they know what they did was foolish. We are not going to request. We are demanding for them,” he added.

Infact, Ssenyonyi says they are heading to Court on there other hand to test its competence.

He says, “Our candidate decided to go to court with all the DR Forms for the court to count, maybe they have a better calculator. The same way we have put the regime to test and exposed them, we want to put the courts to test.”
