Kampala, Uganda: The Former Kibaale district Speaker Bizibu George William, who is also the departed Asians Property Custodian Board (DAPCB), has refuted police allegations about the nasty accident which he was involved on Sunday.
While addressing the media on Monday, police spokesperson CP Fred Enangasaid said that Bizibu was driving under the influence of alcohol, reason why he lost control and got involved in the accident. “Police is just telling lies to the public that I was driving under the influence of alcohol; that is a pure lie”, Bizibu said. Bizibu was travelling along with Ms Alice Nalukooza, a journalist attached to Karuguuza Development radio, when his Land Cruiser Prado TX lost control and overturned several times in Kihumuro village, along the newly constructed Kakumiro-Kibaale Road. According to Bizibu, who is currently admitted at Case Clinic Kampala, while he was driving from Kakumiro, he saw some stones along the road and became suspicious so he turned to another road which is still under construction. He noted that he saw a lot of stones in that road too and when he tried to continue driving, the tyre burst, forcing the vehicle to lose control and overturn. Bizibu also said that his health condition is not bad although doctors have told him that he sustained a deep cut on his head and that his skull is still intact. Police investigations so far suggest that Bizibu’s car could have skidded off the road because of over-speeding. But according to police detectives, bottles of beer were found in Bizibu’s vehicle.
‘‘It is unfortunate that social media and other media platforms are exaggerating things. We have only confirmed that it was an accident involving Bizibu George William, nothing else. It is not true that he was shot at,’’ Waiswa,a detective revealed. He said that there were no cartridges found at the scene of the accident as could have been the case if bullets had been fired. izibu is said to have been traveling from Kakumiro district where he was a chief guest at a football match between Boda-Boda cyclists from Kibaale district and cyclists from Kakumiro district.
