Makerere University Kicks Off Its 5Day Graduation Ceremony, Over 13000 Graduands To Be Awarded

Makerere University has today kicked of its week-long 73rd Graduation ceremony that will end on Friday 17th February, 2023.

It’s reported that the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet K Museveni will grace the first day [today] of this year’s ceremony as the Guest of honour.

A total of 13,221 graduands out of which 6809 (52%) are female and 6412 (48%) male will graduate. Of these,102 are PhD graduands, 1,378 masters, and 108 postgraduate diplomas among others.

The University management says they will be awarding graduands from different colleges including;

College of Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, School of Law, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, College of Education and External Studies, Business and Management Sciences and College of Computing and Information Sciences.

Others are; Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-security, Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences and Makerere University Business School.

Meanwhile, the latest coming in from the University administration indicates that mobile phones and cameras have been banned from this graduation ceremony, something that has left many predicting that the move is aimed at curbing the viral ‘disgusting’ pictures of ‘indecent’ students that have always flooded the internet every time Makerere holds graduation.
