Uganda Cup: SC Villa Knocks Out Ndejje University As Bright Stars, UPDF Progress To Round Of 16

Sports club Villa beat Ndejje University FC 3-0 on Sunday in the Stanbic bank Uganda Cup round of 32 at the Arena of Visions in Luweero to advance to the next round of the tournament.

The Joggos overturned a 1-0 loss in the first leg faced at home thanks to Ronald Ssekiganda’s 62nd-minute goal, Geoffrey Wasswa 66th, and Emmanuel Wasswa 71st minute to help the team overcome the Ndejje Lions.

The first half ended in a goalless stalemate with both teams getting half chances in the area before Ssekiganda took advantage of the defensive error by the lions to put the visitors up 1-0 on aggregate 1-1.

Three minutes later, the debutant Geoffrey Wasswa converted from the spot to put the game 2-1 on aggregate before Emmanuel sealed the victory for Villa in the 71st minute with the visitors progressing 3-1 on aggregate.

Elsewhere, Bright Stars Solito edged former Star Times Uganda Premier League club Paidha Black Angels 3-1 to advance to the next round.

Bright Stars had lost 1-0 in the first leg so they needed at least a 2-0 win which made them determined to get the result they wanted.

In another game, UPDF overcame Arua Hills on the away goals rule after a 1-0 Victory at Bombo Military Barracks grounds.

The first leg had ended 3-2 in favor of Arua hills which means the visitors needed to draw or score which they failed.

And finally, Mbale Heroes eliminated Gadaffi FC in the penalty shootouts 4-2 after 1-1 result on aggregate.

Fifteen clubs have so far booked their places in the round of 16 however the game between Kabale Home Boyz against Kitara was postponed until further notice and the winner will make the 16th club.
