The Territorial Police in Mayuge district, has in custody, a one, Byogero Aisha, a 22 year old, female adult of Mauma “A” village, Busakila sub-county, for the alleged torture physical beating of her 6 year old, niece, Mutesi Mariam, on the 19.07.2023 at around 6pm.
The suspect who stays with the victim, punished the victim after school for performing poorly at her school and class.
Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says the victim cried for help and was rescued by neighbours. “She was shortly pronounced dead at the nearby clinic upon arrival.”
Enanga cautions, “We continue to remind the public that torture and aggressive punishments of children are punishable by law. Therefore, all parents and guardians are advised to desist from corporal punishments and other forms of physical punishments.”
