Kampala: Uganda Airlines has become the latest East African airline to suspend passenger operations from its hub to Dubai with no definite return date

The airline has in its announcement however maintained that inbound flights will continue to carry passengers and cargo from Dubai to Entebbe.

Uganda airlines commenced its Dubai flights on October 4 and has been operating the route with its brand new Airbus A330 aircraft.

The above announcement follows that of RwandAir which on Monday announced plans to temporarily suspend its Dubai route due to the rising COVID-19 cases.

The development comes amid a surge of infections in the UAE, posing a direct challenge to the mass testing regime that has been the pillar of the countryโ€™s coronavirus response and economic reopening.

Dubai was one of the worldโ€™s first destinations to open up to tourists, welcoming visitors from anywhere with only a coronavirus test.

Meanwhile, some sources our spy talked to about the matter, who preferred to remain anonymous described the decision as unfair because UAE brings in passengers including COVID-19 positives but doesnโ€™t allow those going.

โ€œNow they have banned us indefinitely for all pax going to DXB,but then those from Dubai are allowed to dock into the country. That becomes one-way traffic ๐Ÿšฆ! Theyโ€™re bringing in but theyโ€™re not allowing us to go there,โ€ commented a source.
