Tow boys, who are both sons of a prominent Kampala businessman, have been arrested by police over allegations that the tortured their maid by letting dogs maul her as they watched.

The boys, who are sons of businessman David Wakabi, a resident of Zzana Cell in Makindye Sabagabo division in Wakiso district, were arrested following the death of their maid identified as Agnes Mirembe.

The boys aged 19 and 17, were arrested by a team of Police Officers led by Frantile Lwamusai, the Commandant of Katwe Police Station.

They are accused of failing to rescue Mirembe, who was attacked and devoured by dogs at their home in the wee hours of Monday morning.

The dogs attacked Mirembe, wrestled her down and grabbed her neck, before they started devouring her. Some body parts were missing by the time police arrived at the home around 7:30pm.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the deceased was hired as a maid on Saturday last week from Buikwe District.

Neighbors led by Sadick Kiggundu told police that they heard Mirembe screaming for help but the boys didn’t open the house to rescue her, perhaps fearing the dogs or out of negligence.

According to residents, they couldn’t intervene because the gate was closed, saying they waited for the occupants of the house to open the gate in vain.

Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said the incident was very disturbing and noted that the suspects will be charged with rush and negligence.

He said the police have also launched a manhunt for Wakabi, who wasnt home at the time of the incident, to face same the charges with his sons. But Enanga said the charges might be revised if it is established that the killer dogs were neither registered nor vaccinated.
