Kampala International School-Uganda (KISU), one of Ruparelia group of companies has pocketed a cool Shs.3milion and a trophy after emerging the overall winners of the 2019 FUFA Corporate Tournament, in a game played yesterday Saturday April 28, 2019 at KISU play ground in Bukoto, a Kampala suburb.
This after they mercilessly thrashed the National Corporate 11 select team on penalty shoots 3-1, after the official full time ended in goalless draw.
The annual tournament attracted twenty corporate companies that included; Nile Special, Sogea Satom, Airtel Uganda, Kyagalanyi Coffee, Diamond Trust Bank, UPL Secretariat, National Population Council, Civil Aviation Authority, KISU, Corporate League Team, Ecobank, FUFA FM, Red Pepper, Bidco Uganda among others.
Mr.Robert Bugaya, the team Manager Ruparelia Foot Ball team attributed their win to team work and vigorous training.
According to Esther Musoke, FUFA’s Marketing Executive who are the Organizers of the tournament, the event is primarily meant to bring corporate companies and their employees together, improve on their health through fitness exercises since they spend most times seated in offices, but also nurture football talents and create fan base for the football game in the corporate class.
This fifth annual tournament was powered by Nile Breweries, Pepsi among others, and was covered live by Sanyuka TV.
FUFA EXCOM member Ronnie Kalema who was the Guest of Honour lauded the several teams that took part and believes the federation is achieving its targets of bringing the Corporate world close.
”We are grateful as FUFA that the tournament has continued to grow in stature over the years. Several companies have participated today and this fulfils our main objective of the FUFA Corporate Tournament which is bringing together different corporate companies through soccer,” he said.
