Bobi Wine Furious With Police For Blocking Concert In Gulu

By Our Reporter

Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has expressed displeasure with the police for blocking his music concert in Gulu Town on Sunday, December 2.

Bobi Wine said whereas he had fulfilled all the security requirements, including notifying the police, he was shocked that they stormed the venue and removed all the banners and advertising material.

“So yet again, our concert in Gulu has been blocked by the police! We wrote to them three weeks ago informing them of the show and requested them for security. We compiled with all the laws and invested a lot of resources preparing for the show,” he said.

“Today, the police showed up at the venue cutting all banners and other advertising material without giving any explanation. Police patrol vehicles have been moving around Gulu town, removing all the banners and posters! The promoters have been trying to call all responsible officers, and all they say is that they have ‘orders from above’ not to let me perform,” he added.

The legislator added that soon the country will be able to overcome what he described as oppression and injustice, before urging his supporters to acquire national IDs.

“Dear brothers and sisters in Gulu, I was looking forward to having a good time with you tonight. Very soon it will be possible. I know that God willing, one day, we shall free ourselves from this mess and be able to enjoy ourselves in the new Uganda. In the meantime, we shall stop at nothing in challenging this kind of injustice and gross violation of rights. We shall communicate to the nation about our next step. Tomorrow we shall be at Gulu High Court at 9:00 am, concerning the tramped up charges from the Arua incident,” he said.

Last month, Bobi Wine was able to host the Kyarenga concert that attracted a mammoth crowd at his One Love Beach in Busabala, Wakiso District. However, the show had been scheduled for Mandela national stadium, Namboole but police blocked it.

Bobi Wine, 36, has become a fierce critic of President Museveni under his people power political pressure group. Since his arrest and torture following the Arua Municipality by-election chaos in August, the artiste-cum politician has earned global and national fame.
