Kabaka Mutebi’s CBS Radio Switched Off Under Mysterious Circumstances

By Isaac Tugume

Shocking news coming in indicates that Mengo owned Central Broadcasting Services, CBS FM,  which is one of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s biggest projects in Uganda, has been switched off-air, until further notice.

This was revealed on Monday afternoon by veteran CBS FM news anchor Wamala Balunabba, who said that the radio station’s 88.8  and 89.2 frequencies are going to be switched off for an unspecified period of time.

Balunabba said that “We apologise to you our dear listeners that both our CBS  radio stations 88.8 and 89.2 FM are to be switched off a few minutes from now until further notice.”

He quickly added that “However, the reason  the radio stations are to be switched off is that our engineers are carrying out routine maintenance.”

He thereafter ended the news bulletin, without divulging more details about the abrupt announcement, which is very unusual in radio broadcasting.

The bulletin was followed by commercials before the radio station switched off at exactly 2:30PM.

However, this will not be the first time CBS is to be switched. The station was closed by Uganda Communications   Commission amidst the wake of the 2009 Kayunga riots,  during which the Banyara in Bugerere barred Buganda kingdom officials from touring the area, which they claim is their kingdom.
