‘Mayinja Must Apologize To ‘Ssabalwanyi’ Museveni’- Kusasira

By Andrew Irumba

Musician Catherine Kusasira has come out and vowed that her Golden Band boss Ronald Mayinja must apologize for singing his controversial song ‘Bizeemu’, which he sang at her concert in the presence of President Yoweri Museveni.

Mayinja shocked revellers that had converged at Serena Hotel for Kusasira’s ‘Tears of a Woman’ concert when he sang ‘Bizeemu’, although he had agreed with the event’s organisers that he was not to sing the said sing, which is regarded by many as anti-government.

Shortly after Mayinja singing ‘Bizeemu’, Museveni got up and addressed the gathering, assuring them that ‘Tewali Bizeemu’ the way Mayinja had alleged in his song.
However, Mayinja’s gesture pitied Kusasira in the eyes of the President and several National Resistance Movement (NRM) stalwarts who were at the concert, among them sinegr Bebe Cool and Balaam Barugahare.

So while talking to one of the local radio stations on Friday morning, Kusasira said that “Mayinja must apologise to the President. He should have known that that was my concert. It wasn’t a Golden band concert so he was not supposed to sing what he sang. What he did was very wrong and he must apologize.”

However, in reply to her taunts, Mayinja told Kusasira that “This is not Yellow Band. It’s Golden Band. I don’t sing for NRM but Golden band. She should remember that she is not the one who tells me what to sing. That’s Kamanyiro! Nonsense. You can’t tell me what to sing. I can’t tolerate that.”

He added that “I shall handle Kusasira. I’m very tolerant. I’ve handled her ever since she was a young girl, so she should calm down and we sing. Music is a rememberance. How would you as a musician want to be remembered. For me I want to be remembered as a human rights activist. Music is a legacy and everyone has a legacy they want to leave behind.”
