Hon. Alice Karamuzi Kaboyo, a seasoned Ugandan politician and transformational leader, has officially declared her intention to run for Member of Parliament for Older Persons, Central Region, in the 2026–2031 term. Her announcement reinforces her lifelong commitment to inclusive development, social justice, and the empowerment of Uganda’s most cherished citizens — the elderly.
“I am honored to officially declare my intention to run for the position of Member of Parliament for Older Persons, Central Region, in the 2026–2031 term,” said Kaboyo. “This is not just a campaign — it is a mission to ensure that the voices of our elders are heard, respected, and translated into action.”

Hon. Kaboyo currently serves as the State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister for the Luweero Triangle and Rwenzori Region, a role she has held since January 2021. In this capacity, she has spearheaded government support initiatives for civilian veterans, coordinated livelihood interventions, and monitored the delivery of social services across post-conflict regions — efforts that have tangibly improved lives in Uganda’s heartland.
Her political and administrative credentials are extensive. As the overseer of the Ministry of Luwero-Rwenzori Triangle, she has effectively coordinated resources for state-funded programs, ensuring that development reaches even the most remote homesteads. Her meticulous review of government interventions, combined with strategic reporting, has brought lasting socioeconomic benefits to thousands of families.

Before her ministerial appointment, Hon. Kaboyo served as the head of the NRM Archives, a department that preserves the revolutionary history and ideological foundation of the National Resistance Movement. Her stewardship of this historical institution reflects a deep understanding of Uganda’s political journey and a firm grasp of legacy-building leadership.

Her bid to represent older persons builds naturally on this background. “Our older persons deserve more than just respect — they deserve robust representation and action that improves their daily lives,” Kaboyo stated. “I am committed to being that bridge between policy and people.”
Her 2026 campaign will prioritize healthcare access, social protection, economic empowerment for the elderly, and intergenerational engagement — all anchored in transparency, dignity, and inclusion.
Supporters across the Central Region have lauded her candidacy as a timely and necessary move. Community leaders, civil society actors, and grassroots mobilizers have praised her track record of delivering results and her unwavering focus on people-centered development.
With Hon. Alice Kaboyo’s declaration, the Central Region’s older persons are being offered a leader who not only understands their challenges but has a clear, proven strategy to address them. Her legacy of public service, development coordination, and political stewardship makes her a formidable candidate — and a beacon of hope for Uganda’s elderly population.
