Kampala: Uganda Police Detectives alongside operatives from the Internal Security Organization (ISO) on Tuesday arrested four more suspects alleged to have been part of a gang that broke into offices and staff residences of a Dutch Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) known as Doing Good, last week.

The alleged suspects stormed Doing Good premises on September, 26, 2019 in Bulange zone A, Rubaga Division a Kampala suburb.

According to Security authorities, thugs robbed Shs40M, eight laptops, ten mobile phones, and jewelry after injuring Dutch nationals Hoi, Laureen, a one January and Ugandan private security guards only identified as Tenywa and Komakech respectively, who were rushed to Nakasero hospital for treatment after the attack.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KPM) Spokesperson Patrick Onyango revealed that Investigations are still ongoing to establish the motive of these attackers on a foreign NGO.

He noted that it is also suspected that this attack could have been politically motivated to portray a bad image, which compromises security.
“So far we have arrested more four suspects who we believe will help us to get more details about those who could have been behind the master plan of that robbery,” Onyango said.

He added that after the investigations being completed, screened suspects will be paraded in courts of law to answer charges that will be lodged against them.

While speaking to the media, the deputy Secretary General Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Harold Kaija intimidated that

“As we are approaching 2021 general elections, a lot of NGOs participating in Electoral Democracy will be attacked by Government forces under the pretext of being attacked by thugs who are mainly security agencies.”

However, Onyango didn’t reveal details of the suspects because of the sensitivity of the matter, promised to reveal all once investigations are completed
