Troubled Baterana Released On Bond, Interdicted From Mulago Job

The latest we are receiving indicates that troubled Mulago hospital Executive Director Dr Baterana Byarugaba has been granted bond after a couple of days in jail.

The above is a relief to him but on there other hand, he must be battling another sorrowful moment after Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Dr Diana Atwine welcomed him back from jail with a letter interdicting him from his job in Mulago.

Atwine informed Baterana that he should not step into the office again until state house officials declares him a free man.

“You will however continue to receive half-pay of your salary, until you have been cleared of all charges, or convicted,” states Atwine’s letter.

The letter further orders Baterana to hand over office to his deputy director Dr Rosemary Byanyima and warned against any attempts to get out of the country before prosecution concludes on his case.

Remember that Baterana was arrested earlier this week on allegations of mismanagement of office, embezzlement, misappropriation of government funds, among others.
