Kampala: After a couple of months battling with angry Ugandans over his meeting with President Museveni, Ronald Mayinja has returned and apologized to the People Power Movement boss and asked to be granted an opportunity to join National Unity Platform (NUP).

The controversial ‘Tuli Kubunkenke‘ singer literally (meaning we are on tenterhooks), Ronald Mayinja at the party headquarters in Kamwokya on Friday, revealed that he only joined the ruling National Resistance Movement party to ascertain if the party Chairman President Yoweri Museveni had bigger plans for the country’s future.

In a press briefing attended by People Power leader, Robert Kyagulanyi akaM Bobi Wine, Mayinja revealed that he has no intentions of standing for any political office, while begging for forgiveness from those who were hurt by his former political decisions.

Mayinja did not deny meeting President Museveni, In fact he revealed that when he met him, he saw that he was exhausted and has no zeal of leading the country any more.

“I met him with the secretary general of National resistance movement (NRM) Justine Kasule Lumumba. I told him to leave us alone. I asked him of any plans taking us and Uganda forward and he didn’t have any.”

Mayinja who was once a die-hard of People Power Movement turned NUP Party, went silent days after meeting President Museveni at Serena hotel in Kampala.

The two met during Catherine Kusasira’s concert. During the concert the singer told Museveni off in his song ‘Bizzemu’ loosely meaning that what prompted him (Museveni) to take-up guns in the 1980s which included corruption, bribery, rigging of elections;etc were back, this time, in his own regime.

As he was taking on Mr.Museveni, Kusasira who had invited the president as the guest of honor tried to grab the microphone from Mayinja, however she failed.  He was praised for being courageous to take on the president.

When he took up the microphone, Museveni said he disagreed with Mayinja who was saying ‘Bizeemu’, because it was as if the NRM government is committing crimes against its people whereas not. “I advise the artists to use their talents in ways that do not sow divisions based on lies,” he said.

Few days later, it was reported that the Bizeemu Singer met with the president at state house Entebbe and got a number of pleasantries in a bid to lure him from Bobi wine’s People Power. It is averred that Mayinja was given a brand new Toyota Prado and hundreds of millions.

Mayinja has joined with KCCA Speaker, Kawalya Abubakar, Hussein Ibanda aka Swengere and Aloysius Matovu with several other KCCA Councillors, Division Councillors.

Later, NUP President Kyagulanyi took it to his social media platform and posted “My brother Ronald Mayinja has inspired many of us over the years, and I am sure even when he wandered off at some point, yet I know that his heart was always with us. I am grateful that you comrades have given him a warm welcome back home.”

The development comes after five members of parliament recently joined the National Unity Platform-NUP political party.

They include; John Baptist Nambeshe the Manjiya County MP, Patrick Nsamba Oshabe the Kasanda County North MP, Latif Ssebagala Sengendo the Kawempe North MP, David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga from Busujju county and their Mityana Municipality counterpart, Francis Zaake.
